We celebrate Christmas together with a hakari at lunch time. This day is a day for our whanau to enjoy our first Christmas together and a highlight will be our tamariki and mokopuna (our future). We ideally would like our tamariki and mokopuna to be given a Christmas gift (the committee are still contemplating this), which is why it is very important to register - and especially give the ages of all tamariki and pepi attending - so we can do this as best we can.

We recommend that any whanau who have presents to leave these at home which will be a good surprise for whanau on return from the reunion.

During the day - we would like it to be a combination of good kai and alot of fun activities, fun and laughter. We hope that the weather will have us all mostly outdoors enjoying the good weather!

Later that day - we would like the wahine to engage in working together to make some harakeke flowers to be prepared for the bus trip. At the same time this session is going, there will be activities for all the others.

4.00pm: Relax time
5.00pm: Dinner

11.00pm: End of Day Three

This day we will spend away from the marae. With everyone ready to go after morning tea - we have a bus trip planned to visit places of significance to our whanau - notably to visit two urupa (Te Puke and Rotoiti). We have organised a bus trip estimated 5-6hrs maximum. The bus will be for elderly and out of towners as priority, any spaces will be filled accordingly. For those with vehicles - be prepared for a trip if your vehicle is required as the bus only caters for 36-38 people.

As mentioned; we plan to visit two urupa, drive along some places of interest and make convenience stops as regularly as we can. We plan to have a cut lunch already packed from the night before stowed in the bus for everyone, so a stop over at a nice spot like Maketu or Rotoiti for lunch will be the recommended spots - depending on how we go for time (lunch is around 1pm).

At the stops in Maketu and/or Rotoiti, we plan a game as part of the whanau sports and for everyone to get a bit of fresh air and a stretch.

The bus is a kneeling bus for our elders to transport on and off.

For any adventurous whanau who want to do abit of fishing or kai gathering - we hope to have a map and timeframe that we might be in the area where 'you' are hunting and gathering - and perhaps we can meet up with you's and join the entourage back to Rotorua. This will be a great time for pictures and sharing memories and stories with everyone.

Arrival back to the marae will be a quick tidy up and freshen up or have a wee nap in time for dinner.

The night should be similar to a poroporoaki with whanau participating in song and dance and anything else we would like to do including summarising the sports/games activities planned over the duration. As well, there will be a whanau quiz competition as well and that winner(s) will be announced at this time. Also the draw for the mystery prizes for those who registered and payed their fees before the 29th November 2007 deadline - will be drawn as well.

We (the committee) would like to hold a debrief some time (1 hr maximum) to determine our next move in this kaupapa to encourage whanau to join in with bringing our whanau together!

Additional Information:
And just a reminder whanau - this is an outline only - there are still heaps of things to work on and arrange and this itinerary could change but we are working hard to make this a memorable time for all.

At the same time - we welcome any assistance please - we are unsure of the skills and talents our whanau have and so we extend out to you all to 'come forward' if you would like to help out in any way with the running of this reunion - Nau mai Haere mai Whanau!

On saying this we would appreciate any whanau who can:

Do karakia

Sing and would like to teach us all simple waiata and even waiata a ringa if you like - so we can combine and sing together at the poroporoaki

Can facilitate the whakapapa session or gather information from whanau to record this information

Can guide and look after the elders and others on the bus - making sure they are ok and pointing out areas of importance to them as they travel

Can help run our kitchen effectively or any part of the marae facility actually

Can work a video camera or digital camera well

Bring along a sound system to use throughout the reunion

and anything else that we have overlooked......

Nau mai Haere mai Whanau!
